MediaTech at IBC Amsterdam: The Latest Trends in Audiovisual Technologies
The largest European exhibition focused on audiovisual technologies – IBC Amsterdam – once again confirmed that the future of sound and image is moving forward at lightning speed. MediaTech was there to bring partners, customers, and fans the most exciting innovations directly from the exhibition floor.
IBC is not only a place where innovations are presented, but also a space for meeting partners and suppliers. This year, we focused on audio technologies that are pushing the boundaries of professional use.
News from SHURE
We selected two of the most notable Shure innovations that have recently attracted great attention among professionals and sound enthusiasts. These products demonstrate that Shure continues to push the limits of audio technology, offering solutions that combine reliability, innovation, and practicality for everyday use.
The first product is the Shure DCA901 – a top-tier solution in the field of broadcast microphones. The second innovation is the Shure ANX4, delivering incredible functionality – up to 24 channels in a single rack module.
Shure DCA901 – Broadcast Microphone
One of the key highlights introduced was the Shure DCA901. The DCA901 represents a cutting-edge solution in broadcast microphones — a digital microphone array capable of capturing eight separate audio channels using a single device. Its uniqueness lies in the so-called steerable lobes, adjustable audio zones that can be virtually directed to isolate only the relevant sounds in a given situation while minimizing environmental noise.
Thanks to the built-in DSP, EQ, compression, delay, and automatic mixing can be managed directly within the device – meaning less cabling, fewer hardware components in the signal chain, and more creative control over the final sound. By combining all functions into one elegant device that transmits audio, power, and control signals over a single Dante or AES67 network cable, the DCA901 is perfectly suited for modern broadcast studios, live events, or sports transmissions where flexibility, fast deployment, and high quality are crucial.
Shure ANX4 – 24 Channels in One Rack
The second hot innovation is the Shure ANX4, which sets a new standard in digital wireless receivers. This system can handle up to 16 channels for Axient Digital or 24 channels for ULX-D, all within a single 1U device.
This solution saves valuable space, reduces weight, and lowers power consumption – a major advantage for large-scale productions.
Key benefits of the ANX4:
Scalability: Expand channels individually or in groups of four via licenses in the ShureCloud platform.
Flexibility: Compatible with both Axient Digital and ULX-D systems.
Efficiency: Significant rack-space savings, fewer cables, less heat – and therefore lower costs.
Simplicity: Four RF antenna connectors without the need for additional distribution equipment.
The ANX4 is designed for professionals who demand maximum performance and reliability – from concerts and theater productions to corporate events and large conferences.
